DRINKING WATER

The Northend Seclusion Package is a backcountry vacation. This means that water is drawn from the lake and IS NOT TREATED.  To save on weight in the aircraft, in lieu of bringing bottled water, we suggest bringing water purification tablets for drinking water, and boiling your water for cooking.  Some guests swear by water filters.  Both hand pump filters and gravity fed filters are available for a reasonable cost.  If you must bring bottled water, we suggest freezing the bottles, then using as ice in your coolers as you make your way to the Northend.  When it thaws you can then drink it.

DO NOT BRING

  • Cooking utensils or dishes
  • Bbqs, pots or pans
  • Boat seats, anchors, landing nets, paddles

PACKING TIPS

Plan to bring only as much as you need.  Space is limited in the aircraft.  Please pack in smaller boxes, containers, and bags.  Use your bathroom scale to help keep you within weight restrictions. Large, heavy totes are hard to load into the aircraft and may incur an additional charge. Break down your rods, ensure ALL HOOKS ARE REMOVED, and use rod cases. Ensure all luggage is marked with your group’s name.

FOR OUR GUESTS FROM THE USA

PLEASE NOTE:  IT IS ILLEGAL TO BRING ANY TYPE OF LIVE BAIT ACROSS THE BORDER.

The Northend Seclusion Package is a true backcountry getaway. Water comes straight from the lake and is not treated. To help keep aircraft weight down, we suggest bringing water purification tablets for drinking water and boiling water for cooking. Many guests also rely on water filters—hand-pump and gravity-fed filters are both affordable and easy to find.
If you prefer bottled water, freezing the bottles before your trip works well. They can be used as ice in your coolers on the way in and enjoyed once they thaw.
No matter when you visit, we recommend packing insect repellent. Biting insects are typically at their peak from late May through early June. Fortunately, they are rarely an issue while fishing on open water. They’re most noticeable on shore and around the dock during peak season, with dawn and dusk being the most active times.

For your comfort, the cabin is equipped with atomizers to keep the interior bug-free throughout your stay. Many guests also find Thermacells extremely effective when relaxing on the deck, enjoying a campfire in the evening, or spending time outdoors after sunset.

While emergencies are rare, they can occur. If you require immediate assistance, please contact the lodge by phone. As there is no cellular service in the area, we ask that at least one member of your group have Wi-Fi calling and texting enabled before leaving home.

Additional emergency procedures and contact information will be provided in the guest manual, which will be available to you during your stay at the outpost.
